Recorded during the chaotic events of 2020, in separate corners of the US. “In the House of the Faun” reflects the shifting anxiety and attempts to self soothe that were endemic to almost everyone during this time. The first split album by Theath and Manning since the 00’s sees these two artists more in tune with each other musically and thematically than other previously released efforts. Both sides slide easily into each other with complementary sonic visions.
The title “In the House of the Faun” refers to a villa built in Pompeii during the 2nd century BC. Rebuilt after an earthquake in 62 AD it was later buried along with all of Pompeii during the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. The original inhabitants of the house have been connected to Pan and Greek satyrs, or wild followers of the Greek god of wine and drama,Dionysus, due to the sculpture of the dancing faun that was found on the site.
